I-TRIP Research Technician (Part Time)
Dr. Ericka N Merriwether, PT, DPT, PhD (Assistant Professor, NYU Steinhardt Department of Physical Therapy/NYU Grossman School of Medicine Department of Medicine) is the Director of the Inclusive and Translational Research in Pain (I-TRIP) Laboratory at NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. The I-TRIP Lab is a federally funded research lab running studies that examine pain mechanisms and management in racialized and medically underserved populations. We are seeking a Research Technician to assist with research projects to improve pain management in healthcare and physical rehabilitation.
The Research Technician will have the opportunity to assist in all aspects of the research, including, but not limited to: recruiting patients/study participants in person, by phone and/or mail, performing data collection during study visits, data analysis, abstract and manuscript preparation, and other administrative duties. The majority of prospective participants are native Spanish speakers and prefer to receive health education and information about the research study in their native Spanish dialect. Furthermore, informed consent forms and surveys administered during data collection must be provided in the participants' preferred language, in accordance with NYU Langone Health IRB guidelines and the approved study protocol procedures. Thus, prospective applicants for this position must have fluency in both language and numeracy in Spanish. Prospective applicants with demonstrated Spanish proficiency will be considered. The position will not include any supervisory responsibilities.
This is an opportunity to gain skills and experience working on critical issues in healthcare and benefit from working with other research teams of diverse, interdisciplinary backgrounds. The Research Technician may have the opportunity to co-author abstracts and manuscripts, depending on involvement with preparation. Upon completion of the appointment, the incumbent may be able to fulfill practicum requirements, gain academic credit, and/or receive letters of recommendation for graduate school and job placement.
This six-month part-time appointment is for 10-15 hours/week and begins in September 2025. The schedule includes bi-weekly, 1-hour research team meetings at a date and time to be determined.
In general, the job duties for this position require the incumbent to be on-site 50% of the time, with 50% of the duties to be performed remotely.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly salary for this position is $30. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
