The School of Clinical Medicine invites applications for an Immersive Simulation Room (ISR) Lead to provide strategic and operational leadership for a newly installed, state-of-the-art LED immersive simulation room.
This post offers a unique opportunity to shape and develop innovative, high-impact and sustainable simulation-based educational programmes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The postholder will:
- Provide strategic leadership for the development, coordination, and integration of the ISR into the Clinical School curriculum (Years 4 - 6).
- Map ISR activities to intended learning outcomes through detailed curriculum review and data analysis (including student feedback and assessment performance).
- Design, develop, and implement high-quality immersive simulation scenarios in collaboration with Curriculum, Theme, and Specialty leads, and the ISR content creation team at Gener8.
- Lead stakeholder engagement across the Clinical School, securing curriculum time and ensuring alignment with teaching priorities.
- Oversee operational management of the ISR, including scheduling, maintenance coordination, and liaison with Gener8.
- Develop and deliver faculty training to support effective use of immersive simulation technologies.
- Pilot, evaluate, and iteratively refine simulation activities, establishing robust processes for continuous quality improvement.
- Contribute to sustainability planning, including governance structures, long-term integration, and potential income generation through partnerships or external use.
Additional Information
This is a fixed-term, part-time clinical role (1 PA/4 hours per week), based within the Palliative Care Education Team in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care. Funding is available until 30 April 2028.
The time-limited nature reflects the objective to establish sustainable ISR integration within existing resources. The successful applicant must meet all essential criteria listed above, as these will form the basis for appointment decisions.
Early appointment is strongly encouraged to support implementation ahead of the forthcoming academic year.
Location - Department of Public Health and Primary Care, East Forvie Building, University Forvie Site, Robinson Way, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge CB2 (approx 2 miles south of city centre).
This is an integrated appointment between the University and the relevant NHS Trust/Body ("NHS Trust"). You will therefore also be issued with an Honorary Clinical Contract by the NHS Trust. You should be aware that if your contract with the NHS Trust is terminated your employment with the University will be terminated, and vice versa.
