Profile: The School of Engineering at Lebanese American University is pleased to announce the search for the inaugural Chair of the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering. This unique opportunity allows you to shape and lead the development of both undergraduate programs in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, setting the foundation for academic excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish and manage the new department, including the hiring of new faculty and staff, development of curricula and academic standards, and expansion of labs.
• Oversee the delivery of educational programs, ensuring high quality and relevance.
• Lead the ABET accreditation process to secure accreditation for the programs.
• Collaborate with faculty, industry partners, and stakeholders to promote research and development initiatives.
• Work with the Dean and other department chairs on promoting the mission and vision of the School of Engineering.

The ideal candidate should possess:

• A Ph.D. in Petroleum, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field, with an undergraduate degree in either discipline.
• At least an Associate Professor rank, with a record of administrative experience in teaching and research. U.S. experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with ABET accreditation processes.
• A collaborative spirit, strong leadership qualities, and a vision for building a thriving department.

This Chair position is a unique, typically 3-year term, renewable based on mutual satisfaction and faculty support. Should the Chair position not be renewed, the candidate will return to their academic rank and regular teaching responsibilities.

Minimum qualifications include:

• An undergraduate degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering and a Ph.D. in a relevant field.
• Proven experience with ABET accreditation.
