The role
We are looking for a well-organised and highly motivated Income Officer to join our Credit Control team for a fixed term of 12 months.
As part of the team, you will play a vital role in supporting the University’s financial operations: ensuring that income from student fees, research projects, and commercial activities is received, recorded, and managed accurately, securely, and on time. Your work will directly contribute to the smooth running of the University and help maintain strong financial controls.
It’s an exciting time to join the Credit Control team. We are embarking on a debt management project aimed at improving the debt position and strengthening our overall financial resilience. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting the team, enabling them to focus on delivering this transformative project while ensuring day-to-day operations continue to run smoothly.
This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering excellent service. You’ll need strong communication skills to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and the confidence to manage challenging conversations when required. Flexibility is key, as priorities can change quickly. You’ll be part of a team that values collaboration and professionalism.
What will you be doing?
- Proactively chasing monies owed to the University, covering both student and commercial debt.
- Working directly with debtors, resolving queries that may prevent payment of outstanding invoices.
- Processing new customer account requests.
- Collaborating with colleagues across the University to maximise income collection.
- Supporting the production and maintenance of aged debt reports that inform performance tracking, budget management, and forecasting across the University.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen financial controls and enhance payment processes.
You should apply if
- You are committed to delivering a positive experience for students and customers while maintaining the highest standards of financial control.
- You can proactively manage a busy workload and work effectively both independently and as part of a team, even under pressure.
- You have a positive, pragmatic attitude toward change and can adapt quickly to new processes or priorities.
- You are confident using data to analyse problems and identify practical solutions.
- You can think independently to solve challenges and are willing to go above and beyond to provide excellent service to colleagues and customers.
