Industrial Technology Instructor

Administers tests or other evaluation methods to students; grades and gives feedback on exercises, homework assignments, and tests. Keeps records of student attendance. Serves as advisor to assigned students.

Examples of Duties

Essential Functions:

1. Teach four or more classes per semester, unless altered and approved by the Associate Dean/Chair of Career and Technical Education.
2. Create an effective learning environment
3. Meet classes as assigned
4. Present instruction based on the student learning outcomes and performance levels of the course
5. Use teaching methods designed for a variety of learning styles
6. Use course text, outlines, syllabi and other curriculum materials in accordance with college and departmental guidelines
7. Assist with maintaining a classroom environment emphasizing safety, good housekeeping, and equipment security
8. Maintain a minimum of five office hours per week to advise/assist students and no less than thirty-two hours per week on campus.

Course format – course(s) may be required to be conducted in any of the following formats (in-class, web, hybrid, and online).

Faculty Assignments Other Than Instruction

1. Recruit, Advise, and Retain Students
2. Participate in communications with the college and department and meet deadlines as required
3. Participate in committee assignments
4. Submit required reports
5. Participate in the college's assessment process, as required
6. Fulfill all contract provisions
7. Maintain a high level of professionalism as a representative of the college
8. Maintain accurate attendance and scholastic records of students
9. Maintain current knowledge of programs, trends, and new developments in area of expertise.
10. Ensure educational program quality by engaging in continuous improvement through assessment of student learning outcomes.
11. Contribute to the Colleges Quality Enhancement Plan.

Minimum/Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: A.A.S. in Industrial Technology, Electronic, Mechatronic or equivalent Industrial Degree

Experience Minimum: 1-3 years of industry experience.

Preferred: 5+ years of industry experience and 1+ years teaching experience.

Language Skills

• Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to perform basic math computations including adding, subtracting, multiplying and averaging all units of measure.
• Ability to compute fractions, percentages and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to use effective critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully an individual should be able to demonstrate proficiency or, within a timely manner, be able to achieve proficiency in a Windows environment, have knowledge of email systems, PowerPoint, Blackboard & online lab environments, Aviso Retention, and other such PC/web-based tools.
