Overview

The focus is on inorganic synthesis – spanning length scales from molecular to nano-scale and extended materials – and the goal is to equip and enable a new generation of scientists capable of addressing critical societal challenges.

Features

At University of Oxford, they offer a fully-funded four year Inorganic Chemistry for Future Manufacturing programme, comprised of taught courses and a substantive research project.
The OxICFM CDT is based in the Department of Chemistry of the University of Oxford, but it also integrates faculty from the Departments of Materials, Physics and Engineering, both for the training programme and collaborative projects.
The CDT brings together over fifty academics, eleven industrial partners, and seventeen international centres of excellence in synthetic inorganic chemistry.

Programme Structure

Curriculum:

Students are trained in a single cohort initially (in the first six months) through a series of taught courses, covering a wide range of topics in synthetic inorganic chemistry. Details of the modules are provided on the CDT's website.
From the second half of year one, students will focus primarily on their substantive research project, which they will have chosen prior to the start of their course. During all four years of the programme students also receive a tailored programme designed to broaden their research and professional skills.

General requirements

As a minimum, applicants should hold or be predicted to achieve the following UK qualifications or their equivalent:

a first-class or strong upper second-class undergraduate degree with honours in a relevant chemical sciences subject.

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees are shown in AUD and the most likely applicable fee is shown based on your nationality. International tuition fees apply to students who are not citizens or permanent residents of the study country. In some regions, like the EU/EEA, or under certain agreements, students from partner countries may also pay domestic fees.

Living costs

Oxford, United Kingdom: 1,773-2,889 AUD / month. The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
