Institutional Research Specialist (Data Integration) - Office of Institutional Effectiveness
The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) is seeking an Institutional Research Specialist (Data Integration) to design, implement, and maintain data integration solutions. This role is within the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and supports institutional research, assessment, accreditation, and strategic decision support activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain data integration solutions for student information systems, learning management systems, and other educational technologies, using tools to extract, transform, and load data.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and administration, to understand data requirements and design integration processes.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data integration workflows to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Perform data mapping, transformation, and validation to support academic and administrative needs.
- Document data integration processes and provide training to end-users.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in data integration.
- Support data quality by recommending and enforcing data quality standards and procedures.
- Conduct regular data quality assessments and audits to identify and resolve data issues.
- Implement data cleansing and validation techniques to ensure high-quality data.
- Collaborate with data stewards and other stakeholders to improve data quality across the institution.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and institutional policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment or designee.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required. Preferred: Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field; five to eight years of experience in data integration, database administration, or related field in higher education; proficiency in Microsoft 365 BI tools and languages (Power BI, Power Automate, DAX, M, and SQL); strong understanding of data integration processes; excellent problem-solving skills; and knowledge of CUNY First architecture and reporting practices.
CUNY Title Overview: Oversees collection and assessment of data for Institutional Research purposes, compiles and analyzes institutional data, produces reports, and maintains databases.
Compensation and Benefits: Salary range of $52,267 - $86,645, commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include health plans, retirement, tuition waivers, and paid time off.
