The Department of Chemistry at the University of Houston invites applications for a non-tenure-track Instructional Assistant Professor position for Organic Chemistry and General Chemistry. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in organic chemistry, experience using Canvas course management software and Microsoft Teams, a strong commitment to chemistry education, and the ability to construct original, free-response midterm and final exams for organic chemistry lecture sections. teaching in-person university-level chemistry lecture courses is highly preferred but not required. The position emphasizes excellence in undergraduate teaching, development of instructional materials and assessments, and collaboration with faculty and university partners that support the teaching of chemistry. Job duties include the following: teach two large (>200 students) sections of Organic Chemistry I and/or II, or one section of Organic Chemistry and one section of general chemistry, in the fall and spring semesters; teach one section of Organic Chemistry I or II during Session 1 of the summer semester; construct original, free-response midterm and final exams for Organic Chemistry I and II lecture sections; and perform other teaching and service duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department. The successful candidate is also expected to participate in departmental, college, and university service activities appropriate to a non-tenure-track instructional faculty appointment and to engage in continuous improvement of the organic chemistry and general chemistry curricula, instructional practices, and student success initiatives.

Texas for the duration of their appointments.
