Description: The Department of History at the University of Houston invites applications for a non-tenure-track Instructional Assistant Professor position in U.S. History with the possibility of renewal. All specializations within U.S. History will be seriously considered. Teaching responsibilities will include both halves of the U.S. history survey, HIST 1301: U.S. History to 1877 and HIST 1302: U.S. History since 1877. The department particularly seeks a candidate with significant experience teaching introductory survey courses in American history; experience with both face-to-face and online teaching is a plus. The typical teaching load is three courses per semester. The teaching responsibilities will primarily consist of large (300 student) U.S. history survey courses but may involve other courses on occasion to meet student needs. Candidates must have completed the Ph.D. by June 2026, and they should have a professional dedication to excellent undergraduate teaching. Contributing to departmental governance and service is also expected.

Qualifications: Candidates must have the Ph.D. in History, completed by June 2026. Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidates.
