Job Description: The Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology invites applications for a full-time 3-year term position at the rank of Instructor 1, commencing June 1, 2026, or on a mutually agreed upon date. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Qualifications/Requirements: The Department seeks a committed educator with a track record of teaching excellence in neurophysiology and an interest in pedagogical development. Preference will be given to those with university-level teaching experience in neurophysiology who hold a PhD. Exceptional candidates holding other qualifications will also be considered (e.g., MSc). Teaching experience in other neuroscience subdisciplines, including neuropathology and medical neurosciences, is also an asset. The successful candidate will have the ability to independently create lecture material and work in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities: Duties will include undergraduate, graduate, and medical student teaching in large or small groups, including in-person lectures, tutorials, online and distance delivery formats. Administrative duties related to teaching will include communication with students and course leaders, recruitment of tutorial leaders, and exam preparation. More specifically, the successful applicant is expected to make significant contributions to the undergraduate medical education program (Doctor of Medicine), including neurophysiology and clinical pathophysiology lectures for the Foundation of Medicine, Neurosciences 1 and Neurosciences 2 courses. The applicant will also be required to contribute to neurophysiology and clinical neuropathology teaching within the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program, the Doctor of Pharmacy program, and the Department’s undergraduate and graduate level neurophysiology and pathophysiology courses.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Division of Neurophysiology & Spinal Cord Injury within the Department. Office space will be located on the 4th floor of the Basic Medical Sciences Building on the University of Manitoba’s Bannatyne Campus.
Additional Information: The Department currently has 25 full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty members and offers a range of undergraduate, post-baccalaureate diploma, and graduate programs. The Department Office provides support for both undergraduate and graduate teaching.
