Job Summary
The Accounting Instructor has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, teaching accounting courses and completing all duties associated with teaching. Assigned classes may occur during the day, evening, and/or online with varying teaching locations including on-campus, dual enrollment, and Early College High School. This is an exempt position that reports to LSCPA’s Business and Industrial Technology Department.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide quality instruction
- Participate in college tasks, which includes but is not limited to, advising, recruiting, and tutoring
- Serve on departmental and college committees, perform community services, and participate in continuing educational and/or professional development opportunities
- Exhibit commitment and involvement in the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum based on program, department and college goals and objectives
- Attend faculty meetings
- Maintain current knowledge, expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility along with broader higher education matters and trends
- Respond to students, faculty and staff in a timely and professional manner
- Occasional travel to various campuses and/or conferences, seminar locations
- Comply with campus policies and procedures
- Other related duties, as assigned
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in the qualifying field, or a master’s degree with eighteen (18) semester credit hours in the subject matter
- Must have experience within the accounting field
- Work independently in the classroom
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Possess time management and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Finance or Accounting
- Experience and proficiency in using Blackboard or similar learning management system
- Teaching experience in higher education and/or Early College High School
- Teaching experience at a two-year college
Supplemental Information
Physical Requirements:
Duties may include standing, walking, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting or moving of equipment or materials up to 25 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity are required to ensure effective instruction and safe supervision of students in classroom and/or laboratory settings.
