Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in one of the following or a closely related
field:
*American Sign Language
*Linguistics
*Sign Language Studies
*Sign Language Education
*Interpreter Education
*Deaf Education
*Deaf Culture
One of the following credentials:
*Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) from the Registry of Interpreters
for the Deaf (RID)
*National Interpreter Certification (NIC) from RID
*Certification from the American Sign Language Teachers Association
(ASLTA)
*Or an equivalent recognized certification
Preferred Education:
Master’s degree in one of the following or a closely related
field:
*American Sign Language
*Linguistics
*Sign Language Studies
*Sign Language Education
*Interpreter Education
*Deaf Education
*Deaf Culture
Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching American Sign
Language at the college or university level.
