Position Details:
The Department of Social Work invites applications for a full-time 10-month, teaching-focused faculty member to teach in both the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs and to serve as the BSW Program Director. This position emphasizes excellence in teaching, student mentorship, and program leadership within a collaborative, student-centered environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate social work education, including the preparation of students for generalist and clinical practice in alignment with CSWE competencies.
Primary Responsibilities
Teaching Excellence (50-60%)
- Teach a range of BSW and MSW courses using engaging, student-centered pedagogical approaches
- Deliver instruction across modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online)
- Integrate real-world practice experience into the classroom
- Provide timely, meaningful feedback and maintain high accessibility to students
- Advise and mentor students, supporting academic and professional development
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement aligned with CSWE EPAS
BSW Program Director Leadership (30-40%)
- Provide day-to-day leadership and administration of the BSW program
- Ensure ongoing compliance with CSWE accreditation standards, including assessment and reporting
- Lead program assessment, data-informed decision-making, and continuous quality improvement
- Coordinate admissions, retention, and student progression processes
- Support adjunct instructors in the BSW program
- Collaborate closely with the Field Education Director to facilitate high-quality field internship placements and address student needs that arise in field
- Prepare accreditation reports and represent the program to internal and external stakeholders
- Lead program meetings and support faculty teaching in the BSW curriculum
Service to Institution and Community (10-20%)
- Actively participate in department, college, and university service
- Engage with community partners to strengthen practice connections and student opportunities
- Support recruitment, retention, and outreach efforts
- Contribute to an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Required Qualifications
- MSW from a CSWE-accredited program
- Minimum of 2 years of post-MSW practice experience
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality teaching and student engagement
- Knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards and competency-based education
- Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching in BSW and/or MSW programs
- Prior program coordination or leadership experience
- Experience with CSWE accreditation and assessment processes
- Online and/or hybrid teaching experience
