Instructor/Assistant Professor, Chemistry
Position Summary

This tenure-track position requires regular on-campus presence, with flexible teaching schedules available. Contract Dates: August 16, 2026– June 15, 2027 Teaching Formats: Day, evening, weekend, in person,hybrid, and online
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach the General Chemistry 1 and 2 lecture and lab courses using evidence-based teaching practices
- Remain current on effective teaching and learning practices that promote equity and inclusion in science
- Teach other courses such as, but not limited to, Che 011.
- Collaboratively and independently develop accessible course materials and curriculum
- Serve on department and institutional committees
- Accept any special assignments that further the mission of AACC
- Availability to teach evenings and/or weekends as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in chemistry or field that is represented in foundational chemistry courses with at least 18 hours of graduate courses in areas related to chemistry
- Demonstrated experience teaching college-level introductory chemistry courses
- Demonstrated experience with teamwork/collaboration in teaching and/or course development
- Ability to deliver required, predefined course curriculum while incorporating individual knowledge and experiences to engage students and make the course relevant.
- Experience teaching with learning management systems and electronic textbook resources
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in evidence-based pedagogy and classroom management techniques designed to maximize student success
- Experience teaching community college introductory chemistry courses
- Expertise with LMS and best practices for design of on-line components of a course.
- Experience with curriculum development for face-to-face and/or online chemistry courses that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
- Demonstrated ability to create accessible course materials
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in Spanish
