Instructor, CC (Radiologic Technologist, Program Director (Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for program effectiveness, including outcomes, organization, administration, continuous review, planning, and development.
- Under general supervision, design, deliver, and assess instruction in Medical Sonography in terms of student-learning outcomes; develop and/or update course content and materials, and teaching and assessment strategies and methods to improve student attainment of learning outcomes; address the learning needs of the college's diverse students; integrate thinking and writing skills into course content, as appropriate; and use technology to support instruction.
- Ensure that students are well prepared for certification examinations conducted by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in the areas of ultrasound physics and instrumentation, abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology.
- Plan, organize, and independently carry out independent instructional and non-instructional assignments.
- Perform other teaching-related duties that include, but are not limited to, preparing course syllabi and maintaining office hours for academic advising and for conferring with students about course work.
- Regular workload may include evening and weekend classes, distance education classes, and teaching at off-campus sites.
- Non-teaching duties include working collegially to provide service to the department and college, engaging in public service related to one's professional status and/or expertise, and engaging in professional development.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (in any field); AND
- Documents a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in abdominal sonography; and has experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques.; AND
- Current registered diagnostic medical sonographer and certification in Abdomen (RDMS-AB) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
