SUMMARY OF THE JOB
Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.
Under general supervision, this individual will prepare and teach CompTIA computer courses designed to prepare students to utilize CompTIA courses (A+, Network + and Cybersecurity + and more) effectively in the workplace. Areas of instructional emphasis include hands-on technical skills, lab-based learning, troubleshooting methodology, and alignment with certification objectives. The faculty member must be able to instruct a wide variety of topics within the curriculum in a classroom environment and may be required to teach day, evening and/or weekend hours. Flexibility to teach on any of GTCC multiple campuses (Greensboro, Jamestown, High Point or Cameron campus).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / FUNCTIONS
Teaching
Prepare & teach departmental courses to include: developing learner centered lesson plans, employing teaching strategies & instructional materials for different learning styles, incorporating current technology, creating and modeling a quality learning environment, preparing and distributing instructional support materials, conducting appropriate assessment of student learning outcomes.
Professional Development
Maintain professional status through participation in professional development activities.
Administration
Provide oversight of facilities, equipment and student records.
Student Support
Provide an environment conducive to student success, address concerns, promote retention, refer students to resources, and demonstrate employability skills.
