Instructor Faculty - English
Job Description
The Department of English at the University of Idaho invites applications for a full-time Instructor who can teach a range of classes in composition, professional and technical writing, and literature. This non-tenure track position will begin Fall 2026 with a 4/4 teaching load at upper- and lower-division undergraduate levels. Other subjects such as creative writing may be taught as relevant to department need and instructor experience. Service on department committees is expected.
College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences | Department of English | University of Idaho
Required Qualifications:
- MA in English or related field
- 2 years’ experience teaching composition, professional and technical writing, and/or literature
Preferred Qualifications:
- MFA or PhD in English or related field
- 5 years’ experience teaching composition, professional and technical writing, and/or literature
- Training in rhetorical and/or composition theory and pedagogy
- Training in professional and technical writing theory and pedagogy
- Specialization in literatures of the Americas
- Specialization in digital humanities
- Documented history of promoting student engagement, success, and achievement
Teaching & Advising: 96% | University Service & Leadership: 4%
Minimum Education/Degree Required: MA in English or related field at time of hire.
