Job Description

The Department of History & Philosophy invites applications for a position as a temporary Instructor of History. This is a three-year, renewable, non-tenure position that will start August, 2026.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach Early and Modern World History survey courses;
• Other areas may include online and hybrid instruction and service learning;
• We seek candidates with strong commitment to teaching excellence and with scholarly potential.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Master's Degree in History or Master's Degree in a related field with 18 hours of History credit.
• Three (3) years' experience teaching History on a university level.

Physical Requirements

• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Master's Degree in History or Master's Degree in a related field with 18 hours of History credit.
• Three (3) years' experience teaching History on a university level.
• Evidence of potential ability in academic assignment and/or scholarly and creative achievement, and/or professional contributions and activities.
• Evidence of good character, mature attitude, and professional integrity.
• A background search will be required of the successful applicant.
