Instructor II or III in Geography & Environment
The Department of Geography & Environment at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for a continuing appointment at the rank of Instructor II or III to commence on July 1, 2026, subject to budgetary approval. Hiring salary will be in the range of $59,606 - $75,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
We are seeking a broadly trained Geographer with strong spatial analytical skills and experience in the geosciences, including GIS, remote sensing, mapping, and spatial modelling. The successful candidate must have a degree at the Master’s level or higher and be able to teach classes that involve practical and hands-on training in geospatial techniques, current geographical technological-computational skills, lab-based scientific procedures, and physical geography field equipment. The candidate will be expected to instruct courses at a variety of levels including but not limited to: introduction to GIS (lectures and labs); advanced GIS labs (including HTML and JavaScript programming); mapping labs; remote sensing labs; statistics labs; and labs tied to geographical topics and processes. Familiarity with how the geosciences relate to both physical and human geography is required. We are seeking a candidate with the capability to engage and inspire undergraduate and graduate students in their teaching, and who will show initiative in contributing to the department’s programs and curriculum development.
