Instructor (Administration of Justice) Position Number 87561 UH Hilo, College of Arts &
Sciences, non-tenure track, Full-time, general funds, nine-month appointment to begin approximately January 2027 or
August 2027 pending position clearance and availability of funding.

The Department of Administration of Justice offers a BA in Administration of Justice (AJ) that
includes a fully online Law Enforcement Cohort Track specifically designed for law enforcement
officers, and the department also offers a Criminal Justice (CJ) certificate.
This Instructor position is responsible for teaching a wide range of AJ courses in the area of
criminal justice each semester based on department needs as well as assisting with student
events and co-curricular activities in the AJ department.
Duties: Teach undergraduate courses, including Intro to Administration of Justice, Crime and
Society, Criminal Justice, Policing and Punishment, Criminal Law and Procedure, Public Policy
Analysis, Advocacy and Criminal Justice, Public Leadership & Ethics, and other upper division
AJ courses as needed. Hold weekly on-campus office hours. Assist with student events and
co-curricular activities.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or closely related
social science discipline. Demonstrated expertise in the field of criminal justice. Successful
teaching at the university level in both online and face-to-face instruction.
Desirable Qualifications: Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or closely related social
science discipline. A proven track record of effective course instruction in lower and upperdivision
criminal justice courses at the university level. Experience teaching in a multi-cultural
setting. Applied experience in law enforcement.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
