Job Description

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applicants for a chemistry instructor position to teach chemistry labs in the Department of Chemistry. The Department is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Chemistry Instructor to teach primarily General Chemistry laboratory courses, with the possibility of teaching additional specialty chemistry laboratories based on departmental needs and the instructor’s expertise. The successful candidate will be committed to high-quality undergraduate education, safe laboratory practices, and student-centred learning. Responsibilities:

• Teach and coordinate General Chemistry laboratory sections. Additionally, the candidate may be required to teach specialty chemistry laboratories (e.g., organic, analytical, biochemistry, or physical chemistry) depending on departmental needs
• Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging laboratory environment
• Instruct students in proper laboratory techniques, data analysis, and scientific writing
• Design and develop new experiments
• Collaborate with lecture instructors, lab coordinators, and staff to ensure curricular alignment
• Provide academic advising to students
• Design assessment processes to enhance student performance.
• Contribute to departmental, college, and university service activities

Minimum Qualification

• PhD or Master’s degree in Chemistry or a closely related field (Ph.D. is preferred)
• Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate chemistry laboratories
• Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and chemical handling
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to inclusive and student-centred teaching practices
• Familiarity with modern laboratory instrumentation and techniques
• Interest in curriculum development and laboratory innovation
• Experience with virtual learning platforms and tools

Preferred Qualification

• PhD degree in Chemistry
• Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate chemistry laboratories
• Experience with virtual learning platforms and tools
