Job ID 270077 Position # 20014486 The Medical College of Georgia's Department of Emergency Medicine at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Instructor-Limited Term. This faculty member in the Department of Emergency Medicine will participate in a nonACGME Emergency Ultrasound fellowship while also providing instruction, oversight, and academic progress of Emergency Medicine residents, Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellows, and medical students. This position will take an active role in resident, medical student, and fellow education concurrent with patient care. The desired candidate should be willing to commit to 9 shifts in the Emergency Department each month and take 1 call per month and meet all fellowship requirements as outlined by the Department of Emergency Medicine. This position will be responsible for completing timely and formal evaluations as needed. This position is not considered to be on tenure track and is limited to one fiscal year.
Responsibilities
Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Clinical Responsibilities Work 9 nine hours shifts in the Emergency Department each month Take 1-2 call shifts per month in the Emergency Department Internal moonlighting is permitted as outlined per policy for faculty. Academic Responsibilities/EM Ultrasound Fellowship Milestones Complete, yourself, a minimum of 900 ultrasound examinations Embark on a minimum of two research projects, one of which must be of your own design and completed within the time frame of the fellowship Present at least one abstract at a national meeting, if accepted Provide at least six hours of resident or student teaching each month Attend on average two scanning shifts per month over the course of the fellowship as well as two tape review/quality assurance meetings per month
Required Qualifications
MD/DO or equivalent; Emergency Medicine residency or Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship trained. Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be: Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation; Evidence of ability as a teacher; Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned; Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and, Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
