The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the Instructor level as a Fellow in its Department of Otolaryngology in the Division of Rhinology. The Fellow should be devoted to the education and development of outstanding clinicians according to core competencies of patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning, communication, professionalism, and systems-based practice. Opportunities to teach medical students, residents, and participate in scholarly activities. Duties will include patient care, resident teaching, and academic productivity. The position comprises a clinical appointment in the Department of Otolaryngology at a level commensurate with credentials and experience. The Otolaryngologist would participate in committees, present cases in the case conferences, manage patient workups and procedures according to department guidelines, and adopt any tools and/or technologies deemed part of the University. This position is limited to one fiscal year. This position is not considered to be on tenure track.

Responsibilities

  • The Otolaryngologist should have excellent listening skills, a sharp eye for detail, and brilliant communication abilities
  • Educate Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery residents and medical students
  • Care for Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery patients
  • Perform research in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery

Required Qualifications

MD or equivalent from an accredited college or university; must have or be eligible for a medical license. Board-certified or board certified eligible in Otolaryngology. Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be: Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation; Evidence of ability as a teacher; Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned; Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and, Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
