The Instructor is responsible for course preparation, delivery, grading, and records management. The Instructor will work closely with his or her Discipline Chair and other discipline or cross-discipline faculty on matters related to and for the benefit of the Science and Math Guided Career Pathway and its students.

  1. Teach all courses, as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction, including seated, online, hybrid, academic success, and/or interdisciplinary capstone courses as needed at any of Durham Tech's instructional sites
  2. Be fully prepared with a syllabus and instructional plans for each class session in accord with the stated objectives of the course
  3. Enforce academic policy and procedures at all times, and comply with institutional rules and regulations
  4. Maintain posted office and on-campus hours sufficient to fulfill all contracted duties and individual professional obligations, as well as to meet the needs of the department, division, and college
  5. Serve as educational advisor to students and participating in semester advising and registration activities for both assigned advisees and as needed by individual students
  6. Participate in discipline, departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings, committees, and other special appointments
  7. Assist in the revision and development of course outlines, syllabi, curriculum plans, and other instructional documentation and in the identification, development, preview, and acquisition of educational resources and supplies required to meet program objectives and improve instruction
  8. Maintain complete course and student records, reports, and forms
  9. Attend training and other professional development opportunities on- or off-campus and stay current with developments in the field of instruction
  10. Assume other necessary responsibilities and perform additional tasks as assigned by the chair, department dean, chief instructional officer, or president, in meeting the needs of the department, division, and college
  11. Assume responsibility for laboratory/classroom preparation, including maintenance and cleanup, and recommend, as necessary, appropriate laboratory supplies and equipment

A master's degree in Mathematics or a related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics.

Work Experience:

Successful experience teaching Mathematics at a university or community college.
