The Middlebury College Summer Arabic School is pleased to announce a vacancy for a temporary Instructor of Arabic. The position is available during the summer 2021 session, located on the Middlebury College campus in Middlebury Vermont. Our unique 8-week program combines a cultural immersion environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction. This is an opportunity to join a community of learners by actively engaging in teaching, dining, residing and recreating with students while reading, writing and speaking exclusively in Arabic.
We are looking for a faculty member who has experience teaching Arabic as a second or foreign language, and experience in teaching aspects of Arab culture and society. This may include poetry, literature, art, music, etc.
In addition to the salary, lodging and a complete meal plan will be provided.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should possess a MA or PhD (ABD with strong credentials may also be considered), strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated success working as a member of an instructional team. A candidate with a creative, dynamic, and easy-going approach will be an excellent fit with the Arabic School.

- A letter of application in which they briefly summarize their teaching philosophy and how they will contribute to the Arabic school;
- A current curriculum vitae (c.v.);
- Three letters of recommendation;
- Recent statistical information from student evaluations;
- An original copy of their last degree transcript;
- An official translation of the original copy of the candidate's last degree transcript if the document is issued in a language other than English.
Application deadline is June 1, 2021, but the position will remain open until filled. This position is for summer of 2021.
