Job Summary:

This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction in multiple instructional delivery formats and participating in evaluation of student learning and assessment of course and program outcomes. Faculty will participate in service activities to support the College's mission.

The EMS Education instructor works under the supervision of the Director of EMS Education. The instructor participates in the assessment, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of program curriculum. The instructor conducts classroom, skills lab, and online instruction for EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic courses. The instructor coordinates student advising and associated clinical site management for the Emergency Medical Services Education Program.

Job Duties:

Within a minimum workweek of 37.5 hours, faculty are generally expected to teach 15 semester credit hours and hold additional in-person and virtual office hours as defined in College policy. Faculty will teach a total 28-32 semester credit hours across Fall and Spring semesters. Teach evening, weekend, off-campus, dual enrollment, and distance-based courses as required. Provide appropriate and effective instruction. Create and contribute to a supportive learning environment for students within and beyond the classroom. Actively participate in development, evaluation, and review of program and curriculum, including assisting with or leading affiliation and accreditation efforts as applicable. Attend to administrative duties, including completion of required College trainings and timely submission of attendance reporting, progress reports, grades, survey responses and other required information. Contribute to College service, including Student-Focused Service and Mentorship (advising, career services, student organization sponsorship, etc.) and committee, taskforce, and project work at the College, division, and department level. Support student recruitment and retention efforts as appropriate. Engage in regular professional development around pedagogy and maintain up-to-date subject-matter expertise; support a culture of lifelong learning. Comply with all College and TBR policies and guidelines. The instructor assists in compliance with Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines, licensure requirements, and other state and federal regulations while maintaining program accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon recommendation of Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP). The instructor supervises and directs required reporting to Tennessee Department of Health/Office of EMS. Collaborates with other outside agencies to identify new courses and programs. Coordinates with Clinical Coordinators on clinical sites including scheduling of students, facilitating orientation to sites, functioning as emergency contact, provides line of communications with clinical sites; travel for training and conferences is required. Oversees use of facilities and equipment for day, evening, and weekend classes. Maintains inventory of training equipment and assure it is available at each class. Assist in selection and orientation of instructors and field internship preceptors. Acts as liaison between students, sponsoring agencies, local medical community and state level certifying/licensing agency; conduct advisory committee meetings. Recruit and advise students concerning the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Education Program; addresses student concerns regarding instruction and evaluation. Provide formal lecture and serve as an instructor for classroom and skills labs. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Minimum of two years practicing in the pre-hospital environment.
Minimum of two years educational administration or greater than 300 hours instructional experience in EMS training or programs.
Currently endorsed in an EMS Board approved trauma, cardiac, and pediatric course.
Must meet requirements established by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon recommendation from Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP), and the Tennessee Department of Health Division of EMS.
Must be licensed or eligible for Paramedic licensure in Tennessee; Paramedic licensure must be free from revocation, denial, or suspension.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Supervisory or management experience.
Collegiate-level teaching experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge and/or experience delivering effective instruction in a variety of formats, including asynchronous online, traditional on-ground, hybrid. Ability to use a learning management system for course delivery and maintenance of course records.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and any technologies or software pertinent to the subject area of instruction.

Pay Rate: $43,260 - $54,075 annual salary depending on experience
