Instructor of Physics

Florida Southern College invites applications for a full-time, Instructor of Physics position to begin August 2026. The successful candidate must have a passion for teaching physics courses at all levels within the undergraduate curriculum with an emphasis on introductory physics and astronomy courses. Preferably, the candidate would be able to teach advanced physics courses periodically. The teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester, through a combination of lectures and labs. This is a particularly good opportunity for those who are looking to teach in a liberal arts environment.

In addition to dynamic teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to advise students in the department as well as work collaboratively with colleagues in service to the department and the college. The Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physics offers ACS approved degrees in Chemistry with tracks in Environmental and Forensic Chemistry, and a BS degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Qualified candidates will have completed a master’s degree in physics or a related field. Candidates with a Ph.D. are preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching and be skilled in methods of engaged learning and the use of instructional technology. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled, but only complete applications received by March 15th can be assured full consideration.
