Job Description

Tarleton State University invites applications for the position of Instructor of Professional Writing in the Department of English and Languages. This is a 9-month non-tenure-track position located on Tarleton’s main campus in Stephenville, Texas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Primary responsibility will be teaching Professional Writing courses, with the possibility of teaching composition 1 and 2 courses, as needed.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and/or laboratory offerings to undergraduate students.
• Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments.
• Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate student learning outcomes.
• Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking skills.
• Provide academic support and guidance to students through office hours and mentoring.
• Collaborate with colleagues and participate in institutional service roles.

Minimum Requirements

• Earned master’s degree in the teaching discipline from an accredited university.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
