Job Description
Tarleton State University invites applications for the position of Instructor of Professional Writing in the Department of English and Languages. This is a 9-month non-tenure-track position located on Tarleton’s main campus in Stephenville, Texas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility will be teaching Professional Writing courses, with the possibility of teaching composition 1 and 2 courses, as needed.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and/or laboratory offerings to undergraduate students.
- Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments.
- Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate student learning outcomes.
- Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking skills.
- Provide academic support and guidance to students through office hours and mentoring.
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in institutional service roles.
Minimum Requirements
- Earned master’s degree in the teaching discipline from an accredited university.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
