INSTRUCTOR OF SPANISH

Bridgewater College

The Department of World Languages and Cultures seeks a full-time, non-tenure track, Instructor of Spanish beginning August 2025. Successful candidates will have a M.A., Ph.D., or D.M.L. in Spanish or closely related field; and native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English. Preference will be given to candidates with an expertise in teaching introductory language levels, with additional skills in language pedagogy and college level teaching experience desired.

Responsibilities include teaching Spanish at the introductory and intermediate levels. The teaching load is 4/4 per academic year. Candidates must be willing to participate in extra-curricular activities (such as the World Languages Club) to help promote enrollment and participation in the World Languages and Cultures program, Spanish major, and Study Abroad programs.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Bridgewater College was founded in 1880 as a coeducational liberal arts college to serve the local community. Located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley, just minutes outside of Harrisonburg and within driving distance of Charlottesville, Washington D.C., and Richmond, Bridgewater is home to a total student body of approximately 1,450 from 27 states and 19 countries. Bridgewater students study more than 60 majors and minors, in addition to four graduate programs and 10 pre-professional programs. Bridgewater College is an NCAA DIII school with approximately 40 percent of its students participating in intercollegiate athletics on 25 teams.
