Position Announcement
The Department of Computing at Utah Tech University in St. George, Utah, invites applicants for a full-time professional-track Instructor of the Practice or Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity, starting July 1, 2026. The preferred candidate will possess a terminal degree in Cybersecurity or Information Technology. We are seeking someone with a strong knowledge of SCADA and ICS security to complement our existing expertise. Responsibilities
- Teach 30 credits of lecture and laboratory courses in cybersecurity each academic year.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of programs and projects in Cybersecurity and related areas.
- Perform defined campus-wide duties including holding office hours, attending department, college, and division faculty meetings, and adhering to University policy and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity (or a related field) will be considered for the Instructor of the Practice. Master's degree in Cybersecurity or closely related field by Spring 2026 preferred. A terminal degree is required to be considered for the Assistant Professor.
- Industry experience strongly preferred. Interest in Industrial Control Systems security preferred.
- Prior teaching experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collegiality and teamwork are desired.
- An interest in active learning, experiential learning, and student engagement is also desirable.
Supplemental Information
POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (9-month) professional-track faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2026, with pay and benefits starting July 1, 2026. Annual salary of $70,000 for Instructor of the Practice or $87,000 for Assistant Professor with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
