Job Description
The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) is seeking Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) physicians for in-person, faculty teaching positions across the state of Ohio. Positions can include regular but low frequency teaching for medical students in their first two years of medical school on one of our three campuses in Athens, Cleveland, or Dublin, Ohio, and/or small group instruction sessions one to four times per month over seven months for medical students in years three and four at various clinical sites across the state of Ohio.
Successful applicants will have special interest and qualifications in the practice and teaching of osteopathic principles and manipulative medicine, possess a strong desire to teach and advise osteopathic medical students within the curriculum, and strong interpersonal skills to relate to diverse faculty, staff, students and community members. Applications for these positions will be reviewed for consideration if/when a need arises.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach the clinical application of osteopathic principles and manipulative medicine in ambulatory and hospital-based practices.
Small Group Instruction for Years 3 and 4:
- Teach OMM skills in 7 sessions between August and April at an assigned clinical site near you
- Each small group session is 2 hours and roughly every 4 weeks excluding the months of January, May, June, and July
- Utilize provided materials (PowerPoints with demonstrations of each technique)
- Provide clinical correlations, modifications of techniques, additional techniques and clinical skills, and/or other activities to individualize sessions
- Evaluate students' mastery of the required techniques
Clinical Instruction for Years 1 and 2:
- Team-teach courses assigned to the Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) on one of our three campuses in Athens, Cleveland or Dublin, Ohio
- Participate in ongoing programs and program development of the Department of OMM including pre- and post-medical school training and other scholarly activities as appropriate
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an American Osteopathic Association (AOA)-approved osteopathic college by start date of position
- Satisfactory completion of an AOA-approved internship and AOA-approved residency program by start date of position
- Board eligible for or board certified by the AOA
- Current licensure by a state medical board
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional certification or eligibility for certification by the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine
