Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Non-Tenure Track, Fall 2026

Description

Chapman University seeks applications for a one-year, non-tenure track appointment at the rank of Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor Chemistry beginning in August, 2026.

Chapman University is a nationally-ranked, R2 Carnegie Classified, private institution offering traditional undergraduate and graduate programs in the heart of Orange County, one of Southern California’s most diverse and vibrant regions.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach lectures for semester-long courses of organic chemistry and/or general chemistry core requirements for science majors. Responsibilities will include holding student office hours, personalized student mentoring, and grading, as well as participating in program faculty meetings and activities.

This is a full-time, non-tenure track position that requires work to be performed in the State of California and has in-person teaching responsibilities and required on-campus availability at Chapman’s Orange campus.

Qualifications

  • An MSc in Chemistry (PhD preferred.)
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching organic chemistry and/or general chemistry.
  • Experience teaching a diverse range of undergraduate students in a lecture environment utilizing evidence-based instructional approaches and inclusive classroom management strategies.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

To qualify for the rank of Clinical Instructional Assistant Professor, the applicant must hold a doctoral degree.
