Instructor - Pediatric General Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
The Division of Pediatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position available at the rank of Instructor for a Pediatric General Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). Under the direction of the full-time faculty or designee, this position provides inpatient and outpatient medical care services at Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO).
The candidate will be expected to provide independent clinical services for all areas of Pediatric General Surgery including the Trauma Acute Care Surgery (TACS) Service, Pediatric Specialty Service (PSS), and rotate through the outpatient surgery clinic at Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO).
Key Responsibilities:
- Primarily inpatient responsibilities such as rounding, writing orders/progress notes, consults, discharge, patient assessment, patient education, care coordination, disease management, and minor procedures
- Close collaboration with pediatric general surgeons, sub-specialty surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, intensivists, residents/fellows, and hospital staff will be necessary
- Professional interaction with referring physicians and staff, emergency medical personnel, and primary care providers is essential. The candidate will provide care to patients in the pediatric intensive care unit, acute care areas, and in the outpatient clinics
- The work schedule will include up to 13hr shifts, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. 50% of shifts will be night shifts.
