Scope of Position

Teach and assess student learning outcomes in Psychology and Human Services courses such as General Psychology, Child Psychology, Human Development, Personality Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, Adult Development and Aging, Social Psychology, and Abnormal Psychology, Introduction to Human Services, Ethical Practice, Understanding Human Diversity, Mental Health First Aid, Clinical Skills, Crisis Intervention, Drugs And Their Effects, Human Services Policies & Practices, Counseling For Life Change & Loss, Substance Use Counseling, Group Counseling, and Fieldwork I & II. In collaboration with colleagues, responsible for ongoing curriculum evaluation and improvement in student learning and goal completion, including course-level and program-level assessments. Facilitate student learning outside of the classroom through participation in student activities, college, and community events.

Key Measurable Expectations (KMEs)

  • Learner-centered Instruction: Teach Psychology and Human Services courses according to student learning objectives. Regularly assess student learning to continuously improve student learning. Promote learner-centered scheduling, including evening courses, off-campus courses, and web-enhanced and web-delivered courses.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and/or revise course(s) and programs in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Assessment: Participate in course-level and program-level assessment.
  • Technology: Integrate instructional technology as appropriate in the disciplines of psychology and human services, including online delivery, integrated, contextualized and modularized courses, and web-enhanced course components that meet student needs.
  • Involvement: Support College-wide initiatives and serve on committees. Mentor and support adjunct faculty.
  • Professional Development: Initiate and maintain active participation in professional development opportunities in content area and in teaching effectiveness.
  • Philosophy: Continually strive to achieve the College Mission, Vision, and Purposes.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

  • Master’s degree and coursework documenting preparation and content mastery in psychology and human services.
  • Current licensure such as Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Psychologist in current state, becoming licensed in Illinois within 1 year of employment.
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience preferably at the community college level.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach Psychology and Human Services.
  • Demonstrated commitment to our community college mission.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in Psychology or Human Services
  • Experience with program coordination
