The successful candidate will be assigned courses with consideration of their own expertise and that of other Ranger School faculty. All courses include both lecture and lab components, and incorporate outdoor field exercises. This individual will also provide academic advisement, supervise students and support student activities, and may assist with other courses as needed. All faculty members are expected to hold office hours at least one evening per week. Other responsibilities include participating in service at the College, Department, and Ranger School levels, attending regular faculty meetings, supporting program assessment, and engaging in ongoing program and campus-based planning and improvement. Ranger School faculty are expected to develop excellence in teaching, engage in continued professional development, and work effectively as a member of a faculty team to continually update and improve the content and delivery of the Ranger School programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in forestry, outdoor recreation, natural resources, or a closely related field, plus at least two years of relevant field-based work experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field of study plus at least four years of relevant field-based work experience. An Associate’s degree in forestry, outdoor recreation, natural resources, or a closely related field may substitute for up to two years of relevant, field-based work experience for applicants with a non-related Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid New York State driver’s license or ability to acquire such
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in outdoor recreation, environmental interpretation, trail-building, or related topics
- Teaching experience, especially the incorporation of field-based problem-solving or other experiential learning techniques
- Demonstrated experience in forestry and/or natural resources management
- Experience in northeastern USA forest types

Starting Salary: $60,000 - 65,000 DOQ
