DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:

Under the direction of the Dean of Health Sciences and Horticulture, the primary role of the fulltime Veterinary Technology Instructor is to teach veterinary technology students on various subjects in lecture and laboratory settings. These veterinary technicians in training must learn both didactic and skills-based information, with an emphasis on critical thinking and clinical application of knowledge.

The program emphasizes low stress handling and fear-free methods in all animals. The ability to bring real world experiences and techniques into the classroom is expected.

The program philosophy is one of collaboration among faculty to teach critical thinking skills in students using multiple modalities in teaching. The program has an animal colony including large and small animals, a clinical laboratory, surgical suite, and a radiology suite with digital x-ray, dental x-ray, and ultrasound. We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative faculty member to join our team in delivering a hands-on, multidisciplinary educational experience for students. Our program focuses on teaching critical thinking skills through a variety of modalities, including lectures, clinical experiences, and practical laboratory work. We are committed to preparing students for success in the veterinary field by providing a comprehensive, real-world learning environment.

The instructor is expected to transfer veterinary knowledge and clinical experience to the classroom and help students understand the underlying reasons for their training. The instructor works with faculty DVMs, RVTs and students to perform and participate in small animal surgery, anesthesia and dentistry and is interested in helping to develop the next generation of veterinary technicians.
