Responsible for organizing and teaching courses in accordance with the catalog description, course outline and syllabus. Provide students in college courses with a written course outline and syllabus at the beginning of each term. Prepare and deliver lessons that are pedagogically sound and utilize appropriate instructional technology. Schedule regular office hours for advising and consultation with students. Maintain accurate academic records of students and submit required reports to the dean. Participate in the development and evaluations of the progress of learning. Assess and document learning outcomes at the course, program and institutional levels. Develop innovative methods for the use of instructional technology to enhance teaching effectiveness. Recommend textbooks, changes in textbooks, and instructional media and equipment to the dean. Remain current in the scholarship of your discipline and teaching methodology. Advise students concerning academic issues and make appropriate referrals when necessary. Serve as a member of faculty committees and attend all faculty meetings in accordance with the faculty contract. Assist the dean with development of short term and long-range planning goals for their discipline and/or program. Assist the dean with orientation, training and mentoring of part-time faculty. Prepare for and participate in lay advisory meetings. Maintain a collegial relationship with others at the college. Participate in professional meetings and community activities.
