Instructor/Senior Instructor of Research and Relationships

This position will lead and contribute to research focused on primary care transformation, implementation science, value-based care, health equity, population health, healthcare delivery innovation, and community-engaged research. Responsibilities include developing and leading externally funded research and implementation projects, publishing scholarly work, mentoring trainees, disseminating findings, and translating evidence into practice and policy. The faculty member will also contribute to the Department of Family Medicine educational mission by providing instruction and mentorship related to Medicaid, healthcare financing, value-based payment, health policy, and healthcare delivery transformation. This position will develop, maintain, and coordinate relationships with state agencies, healthcare organizations, public health agencies, community-based organizations, health systems, Federally Qualified Health Centers, physician and other medical practices (including nurse practitioners and physician assistants), payers, research funders, policy advocates, and regional partners. The position will represent the Colorado Health Extension System in external meetings and collaborative initiatives, identify opportunities for effective partnership, and help translate state policy, payment, and delivery system developments into actionable strategies for the Colorado Health Extension System, and partner organizations. This position will also participate in the fulfillment of grant and contract obligations that involve engagement and collaboration with funders, state agencies, healthcare organizations, community organizations, and public health agencies. Examples of Work Performed: The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Develop, maintain, and coordinate relationships with state agencies, healthcare organizations, public health agencies, community partners, Federally Qualified Health Centers, physician and other healthcare provider practices, payers, policy advocates, regional partners, and other stakeholders to further Primary Care Research. Represent the Colorado Health Extension System in meetings with external partners and serve as a point of coordination for strategic relationship development to further Primary Care Research. Develop, maintain, and strengthen collaborative relationships with healthcare organizations, public health agencies, health systems, Federally Qualified Health Centers, primary care practices, state agencies, community-based organizations, and academic partners to support research initiatives. Provide subject matter expertise related to value-based payment, alternative payment models, public-sector healthcare financing, practice transformation, primary care, quality improvement, and delivery system reform. Monitor sponsor priorities, emerging funding opportunities, and research trends relevant to primary care, healthcare transformation, health equity, implementation science, and population health. Coordinate with leadership, project teams, Department of Family Medicine staff, and external partners to ensure timely completion of project activities and research deliverables. Plan instructional responsibilities to students and residents related to areas of expertise - health care policy, value-based payment, payment reform Prepare written research materials, including policy briefs, reports, presentations, meeting summaries, talking points, partner updates, and strategic recommendations. Document stakeholder engagement activities, partner input, research project decisions, and follow-up items in accordance with grant, contract, and university expectations. Plan, facilitate, and support research meetings, workshops, presentations, and partner convenings involving internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate with leadership, Department of Family Medicine colleagues, university partners, and project teams to support research program operations and strategic priorities. Maintain appropriate documentation, files, and records related to assigned research projects and responsibilities. Collaborate with investigators, statisticians, project managers, healthcare leaders, community partners, and research staff in the preparation and submission of competitive research proposals. Serve as Principal Investigator, Co-Principal Investigator, Co-Investigator, or key personnel on grant- and contract-funded research projects. Develop sustainable research partnerships that increase opportunities for collaborative funding and long-term research programs. Conduct community-engaged and participatory research activities that meaningfully incorporate stakeholder perspectives into study design, implementation, and interpretation of findings. Work Location: Remote : This position requires numerous meetings a week with outside organizations but may come in the office for meetings and the employee must be in the United States. Preferred Qualifications (all ranks) · Established relationships with Colorado state agencies related to health, healthcare organizations and health insurance carriers. · Experience working within a state agency related to healthcare. · Knowledge of Colorado Medicaid and commercial insurance coverage. · Established relationships with primary care practices · A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in program and/or policy development. · Knowledge of practice transformation, quality improvement, primary care operations, and evolving compensation models including value-based payment. · Demonstrated experience with grant and report writing.
