Job Description

Support a collaborative research project exploring social dimensions of gene-drive technologies in conservation.

The Role

Join a dynamic interdisciplinary team contributing to a major MBIE-funded research project focused on weaving cultural authority into gene-drive technologies targeting wasps. Based in Lincoln University's Department of Environmental Management, you'll collect and analyse documentary data, publish high-quality research, and collaborate across disciplines.

  • Collect, analyse and interpret documentary data using qualitative and/or quantitative methods
  • Maintain accurate records of research methods, results and analysis
  • Prepare manuscripts and publish in reputable journals or presses
  • Present findings at seminars, workshops and conferences
  • Collaborate with a diverse research team across institutions
  • Support strategic research goals through leadership and engagement

Fixed term role ending September 2028, working 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE) at our Lincoln Campus.

Essential Skills/Experience

You will have:

  • A PhD in geography, political studies, anthropology, sociology or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of environmental social science in conservation and genetic modification
  • Proficiency in documentary analysis tools such as NVivo
  • Proven track record of scholarly research and publication
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and meet research funding requirements
