The Department of Architecture & Interior Design at the School of Architecture & Design, Lebanese American University (LAU), invites applications for the position of Interior Design Program Coordinator, to begin in Fall 2026. This appointment is open to candidates at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-track) or Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice (non-tenure track).
We seek an energetic and visionary academic leader with a strong background in interior design, a commitment to academic excellence, and a passion for advancing design education. The Program Coordinator will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Interior Design program, fostering innovation, and supporting a vibrant academic community across both campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the Chair on all matters related to the development of the Interior Design program and its academic direction.
- Provide academic and administrative leadership for the program across both Beirut and Byblos campuses.
- Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of the Interior Design curriculum, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and NASAD accreditation standards.
- Develop innovative courses and encourage experimentation in design pedagogy to prepare graduates for the evolving challenges of the profession.
- Plan and coordinate course offerings in consultation with faculty and relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in faculty recruitment, appointments, and professional development.
- Organize and lead program activities such as student orientations, lecture series, and other academic or extracurricular events.
- Prepare and manage the program’s budget, considering faculty needs, equipment requests, and strategic priorities.
- Represent the program within the School, across the University, and to external academic and professional communities.
- Teach in the candidate’s area of expertise (with a reduced teaching load of 15 credits per year).
Qualifications
- A terminal degree (Master’s in Interior Design or a closely related field is required; a PhD is preferred).
- A strong academic record in teaching, research, and/or professional practice.
- Demonstrated administrative experience in higher education.
- Familiarity with accreditation processes (NASAD and/or NAAB).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- A collaborative and inclusive leadership style.

The Interior Design program at LAU is part of the School of Architecture & Design, which is accredited by NASAD (National Association of Schools of Art and Design) to offer design programs. Terms of Appointment
- Start Date: Fall 2026 (September 1, 2026)
- Contract Duration: Initial 3-year term, renewable annually based on performance
- Rank: Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-track), or Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice (non-tenure track)
- In the event of non-renewal, the candidate may return to the faculty ranks, as applicable.
