Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Leads the planning, design, and execution of interior environments across a range of project types and scales.
- Responsible for developing design solutions that integrate space planning, furnishings, finishes, and building systems while aligning with budget, schedule, regulatory requirements, and university standards.
- Works collaboratively with Engineering, Trades, vendors, and campus partners to ensure successful project delivery, while exercising independent judgment and problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead the design and delivery of basic and complex interior projects, from initial concept through completion, including space planning, finish selection, furniture integration, and detailed specifications.
General Responsibilities
- Plans and designs basic and complex interior spaces including design conception, plan drawing, establishing specifications, analyzing available space, determining office equipment and layout, and assessing traffic flow.
- Performs all of the above within budget limits, adhering to pertinent regulations and building codes.
- Develops and presents proposals, plans and specifications, cost estimates, and budget recommendations.
Qualifications
EDUCATION Required
Bachelor's degree in interior design, architecture, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE Required
2 years in interior design, architecture, or related field
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Required
Pass National Council for Interior Design (NCIDQ) Qualification Upon Date of Hire
Preferred
LEED AP Upon Date of Hire
Working Conditions / Demands
This role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. This role frequently requires the ability to handle equipment. This role frequently requires the ability to remain stationary and ascend/descend ladders/stairs. This role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
