Job description

Come work at Utrecht University's animal hospital! Our hospital has an anesthesiology team that supports both the companion animal clinic and the equine clinic. We are responsible for safely performing sedation and general anesthesia for a wide range of challenging procedures. To strengthen our team, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated veterinarian, preferably with experience in primary veterinary medicine and clinical companion animal anesthesia, for the position of intern.

What will you be doing?

As an intern, you will be actively involved in communicating with fellow veterinarians, owners, anesthesia staff, veterinary nurses, and students. In addition to patient care, you will play a key role in clinical education and supervising interns. You will also participate in the duty roster together with your colleagues.

You will join a skilled and collaborative team consisting of:

• two specialists in anesthesiology (ECVAA boarded.)
• two residents who work in both the equine and companion animal clinics.
• several veterinary anesthetists.
• several paraveterinarians.

Job requirements

• You are a graduate veterinarian (DVM or equivalent) and have some clinical experience in the field.
• You communicate clearly and pleasantly with colleagues, students and owners.
• You enjoy transferring knowledge and have an affinity for supervising interns.
• You are flexible and willing to work according to the duty roster.
• You have a good command of the Dutch and English language, both spoken and written.

Working conditions

• A one-year contract, with the possibility of extension for another two years;
• a working week of 36 to 40 hours with a gross monthly salary of at least €3,546 to a maximum of €5,538 for a full-time employment contract (scale 10 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities);
• 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%;
• a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave and flexible employment conditions based on the collective labor agreement for Dutch Universities.
