An exciting opportunity has arisen for a communications professional with the skill and enthusiasm to support the improvement of our student communications channels. You will help drive engagement, demonstrate best practice, and be a trusted source of knowledge on student communications within the team.
This role is available for a period of approximately 12 months, during the current post-holder’s maternity leave.
What you would be doing
Working within the Internal Communications team, part of the wider Communications Division, you will be responsible for developing and delivering internal communication products to support our Imperial Experience programme, during the current post-holder’s maternity leave.
The Internal Communications Coordinator’s work will support Imperial’s wider internal communications strategy. Through managing regular communications with staff and students, your objectives would be to facilitate student and staff engagement, build a sense of community, and use Imperial’s channels to share information from its leadership and central divisions.
This remains a relatively new role, established to enhance the coordination and communication for all students, with a focus on supporting students (of all types) as they join and progress through Imperial to graduation and beyond, reflecting all our provision and locations, including providing a range support for the annual Welcome events.
What we are looking for
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with an ability to balance conflicting deadlines and priorities
- Ability to work under pressure, with limited direct supervision, to strict deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent writing, proofing and editing skills
- Ability to exercise initiative and plan work independently
- Excellent standards of accuracy, consistency and attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a tightly knit team
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels and from different backgrounds

This is a part-time post offered at 0.5 FTE (2.5 standard working days per week).
This role is for a fixed-term contract for 12 months, as maternity leave cover.
The expected start date would be 12 January 2026.

The role is hybrid. There is the expectation of one day per week spent at MediaWorks Building in White City, with the other 1.5 working days for this role able to be spent working from home. The team’s core working from the office days are Monday and Tuesday, providing the successful candidate with a choice of their in-the-office day.
