The International Marketing and Recruitment Team is responsible for the recruitment of international students, enhancing Otago’s profile internationally, and identifying and maximising international business development opportunities.
The role | Te mahi
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and digitally savvy International Marketing Coordinator to support the University of Otago’s international marketing and recruitment activities.
In this role, you will develop and deliver engaging content and communications that connect with prospective international students and partners, supporting the student journey from initial awareness through to enrolment. You will contribute to the delivery of targeted, audience-focused campaigns across digital platforms and channels, aligned with the University’s international strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating and delivering student and partner communications, including email campaigns and engagement initiatives
- Supporting the planning and execution of digital marketing campaigns across social media, paid ads and other channels
- Managing and growing social media platforms with engaging, relevant content
- Collaborating with international students to co-create authentic content that reflects the Otago experience
- Supporting the delivery of student engagement activities such as webinars, ambassador programmes, and peer-to-peer initiatives
- Contributing to the development of creative assets, including video, photography, and digital collateral
- Monitoring performance and using insights to continuously improve engagement and campaign effectiveness
This is a collaborative and fast-paced role within a team dedicated to enhancing Otago’s global profile and attracting high-quality international students.
Your skills and experience | Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
You are a confident and creative marketing and communications professional with a passion for engaging diverse audiences and delivering high-quality digital content.
You will bring:
- Experience in digital marketing, creative writing, content creation, and audience engagement (ideally in higher education or international contexts)
- Proven ability to deliver campaigns across channels, including email, social media, and digital platforms and paid ads.
- Strong content creation skills across written, social, and video formats
- Experience using CRM systems and/or marketing automation tools for targeted communications (e.g. segmentation, nurture journeys, email campaigns)
- Confidence using content creation tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, and PowerPoint
- An understanding of digital trends, social media platforms, and campaign performance metrics
You will also demonstrate:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High cultural awareness and the ability to tailor content for diverse international audiences
- A proactive, adaptable, and collaborative approach
- The ability to build genuine connections with students and stakeholders

This is a full-time (37.5 hours), permanent role, based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.
The appointment range for this role is provisionally evaluated as Level 5 - $69,931 to $74,609, Top of Range $80,285, and is subject to change.
