About the Role
Playing a key role in the provision of support services to international students to facilitate the effective integration of commencing and continuing international students and their families into the Flinders University and wider community, the International Student Advisor is a critical role within Student Life and the University. The role also employs a case management approach for advice and support provided to international students and also ensures that the University fulfils its contractual or agreed service-related obligations to the Australian Awards Scholarship (AAS) program and foreign sponsoring agencies.
This is achieved by:
- Taking responsibility for the provision of a range of professional and administrative services relating to the support of international students
- Contributing to Student Life’s planning and target setting
- Overseeing the effective case management of all international students, including students sponsored by the AAS program and foreign agencies.
- Developing and maintaining excellent collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Please note: The position may require work outside of normal hours with restrictions on taking leave during peak work periods.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have a tertiary qualification and subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
You will also demonstrate:
- Comprehensive experience working in a student advisory or case management role including the ability to exercise sound judgement when dealing with sensitive and complex matters; and the ability to negotiate outcomes on behalf of clients.
- High-level administrative and organisational skills including the ability to work effectively in meeting tight deadlines.
- Exemplary communication and negotiation skills - including the ability to provide high quality advice to client groups and to plan and deliver presentations.
- Proven research and analytical skills including the ability to interpret statistical information and prepare clear and informative reports or related documents.
