Job Description

The International Studies Cultural Immersion Specialist is an integral part of our institution, tasked with advancing cultural understanding, promoting global citizenship, and facilitating effective intercultural communication. This role focuses on immersing students, faculty, and staff in diverse cultural experiences, fostering an environment of inclusivity and mutual respect. Additionally, the specialist will be responsible for the recruitment of international students and expanding international programs and agreements with institutions in other countries, ensuring a vibrant and diverse student body. This position requires a dynamic individual who can engage with various stakeholders to create and sustain impactful cultural immersion programs.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Cross-Cultural Communications, or Business with an emphasis on international studies preferred.

Language: Proficiency in one or more languages other than English encouraged but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

Special Skills: Personal experience living & studying abroad preferred, but not required; a strong dedication to inclusivity, cultural understanding, and the principles of global citizenship; communication skills for working with students, faculty, staff and the community; ability to work with a diverse group of individuals; good computer skills.

Job Duties

• Cultural Literacy Education: Develop and implement educational programs and initiatives that promote cultural literacy, awareness, and appreciation among diverse audiences; design and implement immersive cultural programs that highlight diverse traditions, values, and perspectives
• Global Citizenship Promotion: Advocate for global citizenship principles, including human rights, sustainable development goals, and ethical leadership; inspire and guide students and staff to engage in international experiences, understand global issues, and contribute to global solutions
• Intercultural Communication: Facilitate dialogue and understanding between students, faculty, and professional staff from different cultural backgrounds, promoting empathy, respect, and collaboration; provide training and resources to enhance intercultural communication skills, ensuring that individuals can navigate cultural differences with sensitivity and respect
• Recruitment of International Students: Actively recruit international students, enhancing the university's diversity and global perspective; develop and implement recruitment strategies, build relationships with international partners, and support prospective students through the admissions process.
• Expanding International Programs and Agreements: Establish and expand partnerships between Lincoln Memorial University and other educational institutions worldwide, facilitate exchange programs, joint degrees, and collaborative research initiatives
• Research and Analysis: Stay informed about global cultural trends, geopolitical developments, and international relations to inform program development and advocacy efforts
• Partnership and Collaboration: Collaborate with different facets of the institution and other stakeholders to promote cultural exchange and global citizenship initiatives
• Event Coordination: Organize cultural events, forums, and programs that celebrate diversity and foster dialogue on global issues
• Complete required institutional, program accreditation and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of University programs, both on campus and at extended campus sites
• Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large
• Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff and students
• Participate on University committees
• Perform other duties as assigned
