About the Role
Preparing students for career success through tailored career support for Juris Doctor, Melbourne Law Masters, and other law students. As a key member of the team, you will deliver dedicated student support, supporting a comprehensive range of employment opportunities with the goal of enhancing graduate employability. Build strong industry partnerships and stay attuned to market trends to provide students with invaluable guidance and opportunities. Develop and implement innovative career programs and initiatives that equip graduates with the skills and connections to excel in their future careers. From assisting with job applications to organising industry events, you will bridge the gap between students and the evolving legal landscape, all while being part of a vibrant team that values creativity and encourages you to bring unique ideas and fresh perspectives to your role.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Support the planning and delivery of career development and student engagement activities such as seminars, orientations and experiential programs.
- Project managing Melbourne Law School’s Mentor Program, including recruiting mentors, pairing mentors and mentees, tracking program progress and communicating with participants.
- Leading the coordination of the annual Graduate Outcome survey, including liaising with external contractors, collecting and analysing data, and producing reports to measure performance and trends, informing future strategic and operational planning.
- Developing career-related resources and social media content targeted to MLS students, including career guides, resources, job boards, and short interviews with legal professionals.

You excel at building relationships and possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with students, alumni, industry partners, and stakeholders at all levels. Thriving in a dynamic environment, you bring a mature approach to working with postgraduates and legal professionals. Your strong organisational and problem-solving abilities, combined with a knack for networking, empower you to deliver precise results. Adaptable and proactive, you balance independent work with seamless collaboration, demonstrating sound judgment and a commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes. Your ability to innovate and find solutions to student challenges is essential, as is your capacity for effective collaboration and maintaining strong partnerships.
You also have:
- A relevant degree accompanied by substantial work experience, or a comparable combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience.
- Knowledge and/or experience in delivering graduate recruitment or employability programs, including familiarity with employability and labour market trends.
- Proven experience coordinating tailored training or engagement programs, demonstrating a pragmatic and empathetic approach to meeting client needs and delivering successful outcomes.
- A keen ability to identify opportunities, apply strong problem-solving skills, and work strategically to achieve impactful results.
- Proficiency with various technologies, including web editing software, databases/CRMs, and social media platforms, with a strong aptitude for quickly learning new programs.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
