The Department of Human Services and Counseling is housed within the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS). CHHS embraces inclusivity and lifelong learning to prepare diverse students for interculturally competent practice, research, and leadership. Position Summary
The Department of Human Services and Counseling at MSU Denver is seeking an Internship Coordinator. This role provides leadership and support for undergraduate and graduate internship programs, including coordinating student placements, developing community partnerships, conducting site visits, and ensuring alignment with accreditation standards. Responsibilities include serving as the primary contact for students on internship requirements, providing graduate-level academic advising, supporting site supervisors, maintaining documentation, and assisting with data collection for accreditation and program assessment.
Advising & Student Support - 40%
- Serve as the primary resource for students on the internship process, including exploration, application, placement, and completion.
- Provide graduate student advising on program requirements and course sequencing, in coordination with faculty advisors.
- Collaborate with the College of Health and Human Sciences Advising Office for undergraduate support.
- Share information on credentialing pathways and regulatory requirements through DORA and BHA.
- Support implementation of systems and technologies for internship tracking and student communication.
Community & Agency Partnerships - 30%
- Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies for internship opportunities.
- Conduct site visits to ensure alignment with accreditation standards (CSHSE, CACREP, NASAC).
- Create and update resources for students, site supervisors, and internship sites.
- Provide support and technical assistance to internship supervisors.
- Orient students to internship expectations and requirements.
- Address challenges in field placements and support resolution.
- Expand internship opportunities, including in underserved areas.
- Serve as a liaison between the Department and University offices.
Faculty & Department Support - 30%
- Coordinate with the Clinical Director and internship faculty for effective communication.
- Organize internship orientations and maintain manuals, websites, forms, and policies.
- Collect and manage data for accreditation reports and program evaluation.
- Ensure accurate documentation of internship placements.
- Perform additional support tasks as assigned.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; strong communication, time management, and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively and address diverse educational needs.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or related field; strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in clinical settings, higher education, coordinating internships, advising, familiarity with accreditation standards, and building partnerships.
Schedule Information
Full-time, exempt, Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with occasional evenings; in-person in Denver, Colorado; local travel up to 25%.
Salary for Announcement
Anticipated hiring range: $65,000 - $74,900 annually.
