Organization Overview

The Office of Investments oversees an endowment of $2.7 billion, broadly diversified across asset classes. The primary role of the endowment is to advance the research mission of the University through the support of the annual operating budget. Endowment assets are invested in public securities, including U.S. and non-U.S. equity and fixed income securities, hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, private real estate, and credit. The assets are invested by external investment managers through separate accounts or commingled vehicles.

Overview

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO), the Investment Officer will work closely with the CIO and other team members on oversight of the marketable portfolio, including long-only, hedged equity, and absolute return strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring existing managers and identifying and evaluating new prospective managers using both qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Creating and maintaining summaries and other reports on current and prospective public managers, as well as a system for tracking potential managers staying current with capital market conditions, to proactively identify investment opportunities.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with colleagues within the institutional investment community and among the investment manager community.
  • Serving as a public representative for the University.
  • Writing and presenting investment recommendations to the University's Investment Committee, and conducting special projects as needed.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and a minimum of four years of related work experience are required. Must possess prior experience in public market and hedge fund investing (including hedged equity and absolute return strategies).
  • Must have excellent analytical and writing skills and the ability to produce work that reflects the highest professional standards and attention to detail.
  • Must be flexible and inquisitive, willing and able to juggle numerous projects simultaneously, respond to changing priorities, communicate clearly, and function well as a member of a small, collaborative team.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, as well as a willingness to travel.
  • A keen interest in investments, endowment management, and advancing the University's research mission is necessary.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA or CFA and prior professional investment/endowment experience are preferred.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.

Compensation Range: Min USD $225,000.00/Yr. Compensation Range: Max USD $300,000.00/Yr.
