The Interventional Radiology Technologist is responsible for preparing patients for procedures, assisting physicians during exams, maintaining sterile technique, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring high-quality diagnostic images. This role also assists with inventory management, specimen preparation, patient scheduling, and compliance with departmental policies and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist radiologists during interventional procedures.
- Prepare patients and explain procedures in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Maintain sterile fields and assist with specialized procedural equipment.
- Operate radiographic equipment and obtain high-quality images.
- Monitor patients during procedures and communicate changes in patient condition.
- Prepare and process specimens for pathology when required.
- Maintain inventory of catheters, guidewires, stents, and procedural supplies.
- Document procedures and patient information accurately.
- Support quality patient care while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and safety regulations.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- ARRT registered or registry eligible.
- Current New Mexico Certified Radiologic Technologist License required.
- CPR Certification required.
- Strong communication and patient care skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment.
- Experience in Interventional Radiology preferred but not required.
